overviewSunshine Housing Co-operative and the City of Surrey partnered with CLT in 2020 to relocate and redevelop the co-op.

In February 2025, construction was completed on a new six-story, wood frame Sunshine Co-operative building. The new homes include a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom options, with six homes designed as accessible. Additionally, members will find two levels of underground parking, an amenity room, lounge, communal kitchen with a dining area, and a pet-washing station.

As the land lease of the original site was expiring in 2023, Sunshine Housing Co-operative and Community Land Trust of BC (CLT) needed to pivot. In partnership with the Province through BC Housing and the City of Surrey, CLT was able to nearly double the number of affordable homes from 39 to 69. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 23, 2022, at 13225 – 104 Avenue.

Built in 1980, Sunshine Housing Co-op was originally located about four blocks from the new site at 10744 133rd St. The original site housed 39 membership households in one-, two-, and three-bedroom townhouse units.

We acknowledge that the Sunshine Housing project is located on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Katzie, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo First Nations.
