Community Land Trust (CLT) is a social purpose real estate developer that helps to create permanently affordable housing solutions for people, with a focus on co-operative housing.

Established by the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC) in 2015, CLT is owned by BC’s co-operative housing sector and is a member of the CHF BC group of social enterprises. The CLT is overseen by a board elected from the members of CHF BC and is guided by CHF BC’s vision: to grow an inclusive community of sustainable and permanently affordable co-operative housing.

CLT’s first properties were originally owned by the Province of BC and CMHC, and were transferred to CLT in trust. In 2014, a groundbreaking partnership with the City of Vancouver was the catalyst for our growth and expansion, providing the scale we needed to create new housing opportunities for people, and employ new and innovative strategies for housing development.

Today, CLT helps drive growth in the non-market and community housing sector by building new housing co-ops, preserving and redeveloping existing co-ops, and leveraging the value of our portfolio to build more housing. We also serve the broader community housing sector by expanding opportunities for co-op and non-profit housing.

Tiffany Duzita is the executive director of CLT and a sector advocate for the creation, preservation and stewardship of permanently affordable homes and community led spaces. She has over two decades of experience in the for-profit and non-profit real estate sectors managing complex partnerships and developments from acquisition to operations and was CLT’s first employee. Today, Tiffany oversees a $35 million operating budget and over $1 billion in real estate assets with a team of 40 staff. She has dedicated her career to the housing sector and knows that Canada’s national affordability crisis will require multiple solutions and leaders to collectively achieve the number of homes we need in Canada, at a cost people can afford. Born and raised in Richmond BC, where she still lives today, Tiffany has always enjoyed the outdoors as her backyard playground. When not at work, she can be found exploring the mountains through her passion of trail running and downhill skiing or at a local pickleball court.

Mänia Hormozi joined CLT as Director of Development in March 2023, and brings more than a decade of experience in the development sector to the role. She oversees CLT’s development portfolio, secures funding and financing for projects in pre-development and sees projects through construction. Mänia plays a key part in CLT growth plans, in assessing acquiring existing rental and housing co-operative properties, and in seeking out new development opportunities. Mania was drawn to CLT by her passion to address housing inequities and the affordable housing shortage in BC. She sees the complex and challenging nature of real estate development in BC as an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for people looking for secure and affordable homes, while also helping to grow the co-operative housing sector in BC. Mania also enjoys mentoring a new generation of development professionals at CLT. Mania was introduced to the community housing sector in 2011 when she joined a boutique developer building the first affordable home ownership project in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside in partnership with BC Housing and CMHC. Over the next seven years, Mania worked as a development management consultant with a range of non-profits before joining BC Housing in 2018 as a development manager. In her spare time, Mania continues to pursue a lifelong passion for movies and animation, one that started at a young age and included serving on international film festival juries.

Toan Le is CLT’s director of finance, and a seasoned Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with over 12 years of diverse experience in accounting and finance. His extensive professional background includes real estate development, property management, asset management, and insurance, demonstrating a robust understanding of complex financial landscapes and industry-specific challenges. Toan’s strategic vision and operational acumen make him an essential asset to the CLT leadership team. His ability to navigate the nuances of finance within various sectors and his proven track record in management roles highlight his commitment to excellence and his readiness to drive financial success for the organization. Toan is deeply committed to giving back to society, believing that everyone has a role to play in creating positive change. He finds immense personal fulfillment in utilizing his skills and knowledge to make a difference in the communities he serves. Outside of his work, Toan enjoys cycling and most importantly spending time with his wife, friends and family.

Natasha is the Director of Real Estate and Asset Management at CLT. She is responsible for overseeing the CLT portfolio and transition projects from development to fully occupied buildings that includes marketing, lease-up, co-op governance and education support. She leads a team of property and building managers, maintenance technicians, caretakers, and administration staff . She is responsible to ensure buildings run effectively in the key areas of asset and property management and building operations in a collaborative environment working with project stakeholders. Natasha has over 16 years of experience in residential, commercial and special purpose property management, including 5 years working with co-operative housing with CHF BC, CLT’s parent organization.

The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance coordination of the housing co-operative. They are the first on-site point of contact and respond diligently and expeditiously to all inquiries, concerns or emergencies that occur during regular business hours. They are also responsible for carrying out policies and procedures determined by the Board of Directors and as directed by the co-op representative(s).

CLT is owned by BC’s cooperative housing sector and is a member of the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC) group of social enterprises.

CHF BC is the go-to hub for all things related to co-op living. They unite, represent and serve housing co-ops and their members. Governing and managing co-op homes and communities can be challenging. Whatever the members need, they can count on the CHF to be there for them.

CHF BC’s Board of Directors comprises 12 members, 10 of whom are elected by the membership at our annual general meeting. The remaining two directors are Vancouver Island Directors elected annually by delegates to the Vancouver Island Council. The board is responsible for the overall governance and long-term success of the CHF BC group of social enterprises. It also hires our chief executive officer to guide and support staff in CHF BC, COHO, and CLT’s day-to-day operations.
